Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and schooled in Brooklyn, NY, Juan studied Harmony and Composition, Choir Direction and Modern Recording Techniques at the ‘Buenos Aires Conservatory of Music’, and Music Therapy, Teaching Techniques for Children and Adults, and Audio Perception at the ‘Univeridad del Salvador’ (Buenos Aires). With private tutors, he studied MIDI, Sampling, Electro-acoustics, and Sound Editing. He started his musical career at the age of 16 when he recorded his first record single. From then on his participation in the Buenos Aires music scene has been prolific composing, arranging, producing and performing for the biggest names in Argentine popular music, as well as coaching recording artists for major record labels such as Sony Music and EMI. In theater, he wrote the score for several plays at the most prestigious theater houses in Buenos Aires: ‘Teatro Municipal General San Martin’ and ‘Teatro Cervantes’. In 2012 he wrote the music of ‘Los Conserjes de San Felipe’ for the CDN (National Theater of Spain) In 1995 he receiving the ‘Best Children's CD’ award from the Association of Show Business Reporters of Argentina. Parallel to his music career, Juan has dedicated much of his time and expertise to teaching. In 1991 he organized an arts-in-residency workshop program for Buenos Aires elementary schools that included visual arts, dance and theater, as well as music. In 1996 he began giving seminars and clinics on Music for Cinema, MIDI, Sampling, Sound Editing and Modern Recording Techniques. Juan Bellia has been living in the US since the year 2000, and currently teaches music in New York and New Jersey public schools.
