When the Heart meets with Earth

By Saravana Deivasigamani

My art is inspired by the forest and the nature I am living in. All the elements from nature I am serenaded by, like leaves, roots, seeds, tress and flowers are becoming part of my sculptures. I hope to remained people the values of trees in our life and to make people making an effort to live with more compassion towards nature.

About the Artist

Saravana Deivasegamani

My name is Saravana Deivasegamani (b. 1984 / Pondicherry). I am a young sculptor from Pondicherry, India. I am self-taught artist, who initially worked in a decrepit welding shop. Over the years, I refined my skills of working with waste iron and other scrap material, till I have started transforming them into a significant body of aesthetically alluring artworks. I became closer with a veteran environmentalist and German artist Juergen Puetz (Auroville), that has brought me closer to appreciating nature and its many manifestations. My piece ‘Creators’ is a collection of almost 2000 Palmyra kernels from Auroville forest. The ‘Creators’ won the National Award of Lalit Kala Akademi 2016 -17 and was exhibited at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru during 58th National Exhibition of Art.
