Calling of the Spirits

By Deborah Thurlow

The Calling of the Spirits is a recomposed work for Native American Flute. This work had evolved in a different music direction surrounded by processed sounds giving it a new timbre and purpose. There are three sections...Spirit 1,2 and 3...aleatoric improvisation....using the processed Native American Flute in Logic Pro...stated after the opening theme. And also, the added touch of bells and percussion effects. My work found a purpose as a dedication in memory of Standing Dear. Please remember this closing Cherokee quote in his memory:

“When you were born, you cried, and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.”
