Entering the Perfect Circle: An in-depth exploration of Joel Thome's Mandala Notation through the mirror of form and sonic function.
Joel Thome will discuss his use of Mandala forms to generate new ideas in performance and sound creation through the world of mandalas. He will be joined by his collaborative associate and composer, Phil Moffa. Thome and Moffa will also demonstrate the process they employed in the creation of Celestial Visions (featured in Edition 1 of Artists4Peace), their collaborative work based entirely on space sounds. Thome first began his use of space sounds as a sound palette in the 1970s with his work TIME SPANS.
